The San Francisco Brewers Guild invites you to join us for another edition of Brews on the Bay, Saturday, October 13, from 1-5pm.
Enjoy over 80 different beers from San Francisco breweries while soaking up the salty air, sunshine, live music, food and spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and San Francisco. It’s one of the most memorable and unique beer festivals in the country.
You can expect our member breweries to serve unlimited eight-ounce pours of their latest and greatest IPA, farmhouse ale, session beer, barrel-aged sour, imperial stout, and many other beer styles. The brewers will also be on hand to serve beer and answer questions.
In addition to the local beer, we'll have local music to keep you hummin' and local food from San Francisco’s best food trucks and carts available for purchase to keep you fully satisfied. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter for the latest updates.
This is our fifteenth year aboard the S.S. Jeremiah O’Brien, an historic landmark from the World War II Merchant Marine era. A portion of festival proceeds will benefit the National Liberty Ship Memorial.
In collaboration with our local Bay Area friends at Fieldwork Brewing (who know a “little” about hops in beers) we bring you A Terrible Idea. Discover malt clouds supporting silky yeast with a creamy mouthfeel, then brace yourself for a MAMMOTH dry hop charge – 4 pounds of hops per barrel to be exact – which is twice our typical rate. Coupled with juicy notes of peach, orange, mango and pineapple will spark your taste buds back from extinction.
Blood Orange Brew Free! is brewed like our original west coast style Brew Free! or Die IPA, but with an abundance of fresh blood orange and a twist of citrusy dry hops. Refreshingly different. As Abe would say, “Whatever you are, be a good one.”
Pairs with: Thai food, pork, baked goods, buffalo wings and a good sports game Pairs BEST with: strong cheese, charcuterie and fresh bread while picnicking at your favorite park
Enjoy bright fresh flavors and aromas of hops, tropical stone fruits, pine and a hint of spiciness. Mr. Franklin once said, “well done is better than well said,” and this beer is sure to prove that theory.
Please visit our booth for beer information.
This naturally conditioned, mixed-culture sour ale was aged for months with real fruit in oak barrels creating a delightfully tart and freshing brew.
LOVE IPA is double dry-hopped and super dank. A pillowy mouthfeel and tropical flavors will keep you infatuated.
Fried chicken, ceviche, and sunshine
A fun riff on our Any Beans golden coffee ale, this time infused with TCHO Cacao Nibs and a special whole bean light-roast coffee from Noe Valley Coffee Company, roasted just for this beer… lucky us!
SF Cloud City is a wonderfully aromatic Czech Pilsner-style dry-hopped lager, with a nice malt backbone complimented by a bouquet of Slovenian Celia and Czech Saaz hops.
Like your first trip to summer camp -- full of exciting 'firsts', new friends and experiences you will not soon forget. A friendly IPA, the made sour, cranked up with 290 lbs of fresh Citra wet hops and 44 lbs of Amarillo dry hops. It's bright, herbal, grassy, citrusy, and a little wild.
Wobbly Joystick pays homage to our love of classic arcade games, mashing buttons and cranking the joystick. Like Ms. Pac-Man chasing ghost-like dankness and fruity citrus notes for a bonus, this hazy IPA is leveled up with Amarillo, Simcoe, and Cascade hops.

Then, add two pounds of Sightglass Papa New Guinea Amuliba Estate, Jiwaka & Toketee Blend coffee per barrel for an intense but refined coffee character.
This Nelson forward DIPA features 3 hops selected by us for their outstanding aroma. Simcoe & Citra make up about 50% of the hop bill leaving plenty of room for the Nelson to be the showcase. Our recent trip to New Zealand awarded us with some of the best Nelson we have seen in years. Pineapple, grape, guava & diesel dank!
Our hot and lazy brewer James designed this low alcohol, light and crisp beer so that fellow hot and lazy people like him have something to drink and cool off with. Wheat, pilsner and rye malts support a delicate hopping of Nelson and Idaho7 with a kiss of Citra. It’s perfect for the Indian Summer and the northeast winds.
Cascade and Chinook hops grown in our Portola Neighborhood by local gardeners were used as “fresh hops” that we brewed with less than 24 hours after harvesting, which lend floral, slightly citrus, and grassy notes from using while still wet. Admiral Maltings “Maiden Voyage” malt from Alameda, and GigaYeast NorCal Ale yeast produced in San Jose make this truly as “Hyper-local” as we can get!
Pilsner and Munich malts form the base on which we deftly layer de-husked roasted malt leading to a smooth, yet crisp, dry, refreshing lager. German Perle hops provide just the right amount of spicy and floral notes. GigaYeast German Lager yeast.
An SF Brewers Guild Collaboration brewed to celebrate the crew of the SS Jeremiah O'Brien and the 15-year Anniversary of BOTB! This kettle-soured Gose has a touch of salt to remind us of the sea, and the addition of kaffir lime leaves and fresh lime zest ensures the crew stays hardy in the fight against scurvy. Crisp, tart, and super refreshing.
Export is inspired by the bold and often overlooked lagers of northern Germany: hearty beers that reflect the hard-working industrial nature of the region. Our mineral-rich water provides a crisp bite similar to the waters of Dortmund. With the full malt flavor of a Helles lager and the punchy hop character of a Czech pilsner, Export is a crisp, clean beer that’s the perfect reward for a hard day’s work.
Nitro was inspired by cool summers in San Francisco, where outdoor adventures often come with fog. Best enjoyed infused with nitrogen, this beer is light, daring and thirst- quenching, but a double-roasted malt brings in fudge and molasses notes to keep things toasty. This is a beer for a cozy evening at home with a book and blanket, or a few friends and a good conversation.
Sonder is a dry and fruit-forward Belgian Pale Ale with an imagina-tive, hoppy twist. An abundance of pear, guava, and green tea aroma is created through the interaction of Hallertau Blanc and Experimental 04190 hops with a select yeast strain believed to originate in Antwerp, Belgium. Both pleasantly familiar yet surprisingly new, Sonder is a refresh-ing take on the pale ale.
Specter is an elusive farmhouse ale, inspired by traditions long forgotten. Its multi-faceted aroma and flavor is crafted by a special yeast strain sourced from deep in the Ardennes forest of Belgium. Delicate additions of specialty malt and sassafras smoked rye create notes of ripe apricot, dark rye bread and black pepper that transition into a wispy finish of harvest bonfire smoke.
Refreshing kettle-sour fermented on cherries
A bright IPA with Mosaic & Vic Secret hops
Bright copper lager using Admiral Malts
Double Bowknot is a big, rich Russian Imperial Stout. With a viscous mouthfeel it unveils layers of complexity – cacao, burnt caramel, dark roasted malts. Black Medicine cold brew coffee and roasted hatch chilis were added at secondary to make this a truly unique flavor profile. The roasted malts in the grain bill and Sterling hops add a balanced bitterness. At 10.6% this is a true sipping beer; enjoy with your favorite dessert by the fire.
Starting as our Pt. Bonita Pilsner, this beer is aged in various barrels – cabernet, chardonnay, pinot noir, neutral and whiskey. This solera style has roots to our very first batch of pilsner as each year we leave a few gallons behind in the barrels to kick off the next year’s batch. Each vintage is unique as different wild yeasts and bugs vie in the barrel to come out. This year’s version is a blend of the now 5 barrels in the series. Each barrel has its own character with highlights of citrus, melon and light stone fruit aromas with a faint vanilla presence from its nap in the oak.
This IPA follows a trail less traveled. Rye malt, mosaic hops and a specific yeast strain synchronize to produce a West Coast-styled IPA with a difference. We named it after Marin's Wolfback Ridge trail - slightly off the beaten path, but worth every step. Or sip.
Please visit our booth for beer information.
Light, refreshing, low bitterness.
Sticke translates to "secret" in German referring to a special release of this style of beer, which is slightly stronger and more bitter than a normal Alt Beer. Altbier is cousin to the German-style Kolsch.

You've gotta hustle in the beer industry these days. Sexy hops are hard to fine. Sometimes you have to go to extremes to get them -- DDH with NZ Nelson Sauvin, NZ Motueka and Simcoe.
A modern spin on a California Common (steam style beer). This beer uses a mix of traditional common hops and more modern hops and is fermented with a lager yeast at higher than normal temperatures. It drinks easy and is sure to delight with a suite of malt and hop flavor and aroma.
One of Magnolia's most-loved and asked-for beers, an over-the-top IPA we've been brewing since 1999. It's a hybrid, built around English Maris Otter malt and fermented with our English ale yeast but then packed with a powerful hop charge like an American IPA, including big dry hop character. The hops dominate but Maris Otter comes through with a malty counterpoint in a way not often found in this style of beer.
A mild maltiness and amber golden color combine with Cascade hops to create a beer that just about everybody can enjoy. A portion of the proceeds go to support Station 12's (our local SFFD unit) toy drive, which is one of the largest in the country.
American wit, aged in zinfandel and petite sirah barrels. Soft, velvety and delicious.
Big, dark and delicious. Complex layers of coffee, chocolate and roasted barley.
An amped up version of our Mango Hopsicle. More lactose, more hops, and a bunch of apricot puree added, in addition to the mango puree. As tasty as it is weird.
Golden, smooth and strong. We took a portion of our Surf Trip Belgian Tripel and aged it in Four Roses bourbon barrels. Wonderfully complex and packs a punch!

In true homage to the importance of quality and craft, Admiral Maltings partners with California farmers creating exceptional, hand-crafted malt we’ve exemplified in this malt driven, smooth, pale lager with a light noble hop character. Inspired by Bavaria, made in The Bay. Prost.
Syndicate Series No. 04 is a blend of beers that have been aged for no less than one year in bourbon barrels. Syndicate No. 04 pours dark with heavy tobacco, leather, chocolate, and vanilla notes. As well as dark fruit and hints of coffee. This beer clocks in at over 10% ABV but is smoothed over by the long aging time.
